Blacktown Shared Path and Artwork
Jointly funded by Blacktown Council and the NSW Government Metropolitan Greenspace Program, this project will greatly enhance pedestrian access and safety to our Olympics-legacy facility. It represents a valuable addition to Council’s project to set Blacktown International Sports Park up for a bright future, as a first-class recreational venue for Western Sydney.
The new shared path and bridge crossing over Angus Creek under the Westlink M7 motorway will provide a much safer and more accessible connection for the community between Rooty Hill Station and the Blacktown Exercise Sports and Technology (BEST) Hub.
An under 10-minute walk, the 800m shared user pathway passes from Mavis St, Rooty Hill, under the M7, and into Blacktown International Sports Park.
Time Flow by Shay Tobin, Chris Fox and City People
Time Flow was designed by Shay Tobin, a local Dharug artist, in collaboration with Chris Fox and City People.
The installation takes its genesis from the history of the land and water in and around Angus Creek, forming part of the new shared user path linking Rooty Hill to the sports park.
The installation will be a key component in place making for the new pedestrian and cycle access point to the sports park, encouraging new users to access the new facilities within the precinct.
